How we test every resume template

A template preview is not enough. The exported file must contain selectable text, preserve the resume fields and links, keep the intended section order, and avoid changing the score simply because a user switched designs. This page documents the automated checks behind those claims.

Latest result: all 27 public templates passed the current PDF generation, selectable-text, field, link, ordering, and data-preservation checks. The regression suite also covers five legacy renderer IDs, for 32 renderer IDs in total.

What the automated suite checks

PDF creation

The renderer produces a valid PDF for each template, including sparse resumes and deliberately long entries used for page-break coverage.

Selectable text

The suite extracts the text layer and verifies that expected resume content is available as text rather than only as an image.

Fields and links

Identity, experience, education, skills, projects, certifications, custom content, and supported links are checked against a known fixture.

Section order

The exported text order is compared with the saved section order so the download follows the same content hierarchy as the builder.

Template switching

Switching designs is checked for data loss. Resume content should remain the same while only the presentation changes.

Score stability

The same structured test resume produced an ATS Readiness Score of 89 across all 32 renderer IDs in the latest run.

Results for the 27 public templates

These results use the same controlled resume fixture for every design. They verify the behavior of this product's export pipeline; they are not a certification from an employer or an ATS vendor.

How to reproduce the useful parts

  1. Create a resume with contact fields, dated entries, bullets, skills, a project, a certification, and at least one link.
  2. Switch templates and confirm that the entered information remains present.
  3. Download the PDF, select and copy its text, and check the reading order.
  4. Open the links, inspect page breaks, and upload that final file to the resume checker.

Limits of this report

  • Employer systems use different parsers, settings, workflows, and ranking criteria.
  • A passing export test cannot make unsupported content relevant to a job.
  • Very long unbreakable entries can still produce renderer warnings, so users should review the actual page breaks.
  • The ATS score is a documented product heuristic, not an employer score or an interview prediction.
